Marian Rivera played a Filipino version of Marimar.
Marian Rivera (born August 12, 1984 in Madrid, Spain) is a Filipina actress of Spanish-Filipino descent. Her father is a Spaniard named Francisco Javier Gracia while her mother is a Filipina named Amalia Rivera. Her parents separated when she was 2 and she and her mom settled Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines, where she grew up. She is currently a contract artist of GMA Network and is known for her roles in the said network's shows like the telefantasya Super Twins and the Philippine-Malaysian drama Muli. Her biggest break came when she won the title role of Marimar, which is a remake of the famous telenovela of the same name.
